Why You Need Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)
Most EPA 2010 and newer diesel vehicles have a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system that requires Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).
DEF is an aqueous urea solution made with 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water used to reduce the amount of air pollution created by a diesel engine.
Low DEF levels cause derate of horsepower. If the vehicle runs out of DEF, the engine’s power is reduced and the vehicle will be limited to 5 mph until the DEF tank is filled.
How Much DEF Do You Need?
Most diesel vehicles require 3 – 6% DEF per gallon of diesel. Our 24/7 monitoring ensures you always have DEF on hand so your vehicles never run low or run out.
